Sun Hung Kai & Co. Hong Kong Race Week 2025: Day 2 Recap

The second day of racing at the Sun Hung Kai & Co. Hong Kong Race Week, which incorporates the 2025 29er Asian Championship, brought another good—though cold—day on the water, with lighter winds than expected.

29er Race Recap

The 29er race course, located northwest of Po Toi Island, experienced more wind compared to Day 1 but fewer gusts. The day began with 10 to 14 knots of breeze and choppy seas, creating challenging conditions for sailors. By the fourth race, the wind softened to 6 to 8 knots. Race Officer Dave Norton noted: “We managed to finish 8 out of the 14 scheduled races. The forecasts are mixed—some look good for Saturday, others bad for Sunday. We’ll just see what happens.

In the 29er class, which includes the 2025 29er Asian Championship, the top of the leaderboard remained unchanged. Local siblings Tiffany and Raphael Mak continue to lead, followed by the American team of Kevin Cason and Holland Vierling in second. The Thai team of Patcharaphan Ongkaloy and Kan Kachachuen holds third.
